Health History

Her vaccinations began around 6–8 weeks, and her veterinary checks, scheduled deworming, and vaccine doses are current through 11 weeks. She’ll typically grow to 35–50 pounds and stand 17–21 inches at the shoulder, with a life expectancy of 11–13 years. Her family should review her parents’ documented hip evaluations, current specialist eye examinations, and recommended genetic screening. Next, her vet should continue combination vaccinations every 2–4 weeks through at least 16 weeks, begin her two-dose leptospirosis series around 12 weeks, and confirm her rabies vaccination and ongoing parasite-prevention schedule.

Their Story

She went home as a surprise birthday gift while everyone gathered around to take pictures. Three days later, she was returned because the person receiving her wasn’t prepared to raise a puppy. Her breeder has said he won’t keep a returned puppy for long and has mentioned euthanization if another home cannot be found. She is only eleven weeks old. For one weekend, people sat on the floor with her, laughed at her clumsy games, and let her fall asleep against them. Now she is back where she started, with that brief experience of being welcomed home already behind her. One very small deposit brings you closer to saving her from a death sentence and becoming the reason her next chapter is filled with love.

Pup Personality

She inspects a new toy with a serious little head tilt before launching into a wonderfully clumsy pounce. Eleven weeks old, she mixes thoughtful curiosity with sudden bursts of silliness, especially when someone gets down on the floor with her. Gentle introductions help her feel comfortable, and once she settles in, she’s quick to invite you into whatever game she has invented.

PupPath Mission

I was also once looking for a dog

I wasn't just looking for an Otterhound puppy. I wanted to save one. I dreamed of giving him a warm home, a loving family, and the second chance he deserved. But I had no idea where to start. I spent countless hours searching hundreds of listings, calling shelters, and contacting breeders. Nothing. Not a single Otterhound pup.

Frustrated, I gave up searching for a while. Weeks later, I came across a post about an Otterhound puppy desperately needing a home. This was him. The puppy I'd been searching for. I rushed to the shelter, only to hear words I'll never forget. "I'm sorry. He's already been euthanized." My heart sank.

He could have had a home, a family, and a lifetime of love. If only I'd found him sooner. That's when I realized countless other dogs were facing the same heartbreaking possibility. I couldn't save him. But maybe I could help save others. That's why I created PupPath.

Portuguese Water Dog Puppy Stories

Female Unnamed Pup — Portuguese Water Dog

Once a man collapsed on a secluded trail, his Portuguese Water Dog pup ran toward the distant voices of other walkers. It barked, circled, and repeatedly looked back until they followed it to its owner, who was lying hidden beside the path, unable to call for help. Rescuers reached him in time, and when he finally woke up in the hospital, his first question was whether his dog was safe. At their reunion, the Portuguese Water Dog pup rested its head in his hands, and through tears the man whispered, “You went looking for help when I couldn’t even ask.” The Portuguese Water Dog pup is ready to protect you but it needs your protection first.

Protect My Future Pup

Within days of coming home, a Portuguese Water Dog puppy had become his owner’s constant companion and the children’s inseparable playmate. Whenever an argument grew loud, he would appear with his favorite toy, nudging a hand until someone paused to look at him. Those gentle interruptions became the family’s reminder to soften their voices, sit together, and listen instead of speaking over each other. One evening, watching his children cuddle beside their new Portuguese Water Dog friend, their father whispered, “You’ve only just arrived, and you’re already helping us take better care of each other.” The Portuguese Water Dog Puppy is ready to take care of you, but it needs you to take care of it first.

Take Care Of My Pup

After an accident left his owner struggling to walk, a Portuguese Water Dog puppy began matching every slow step, pausing whenever the man needed to rest. Throughout the long recovery, it waited beside his owner’s chair and followed him from room to room, settling wherever they could remain close. When the children called the pup outside, it enjoyed their games, then hurried back to check on the person resting indoors. On the day they finally reached their old walking spot again, his owner sat down and held the Portuguese Water Dog pup, overwhelmed by the friend who had made every difficult step feel less lonely. A Portuguese Water Dog pup is waiting for you.
