Health History

He’ll remain a small companion, typically reaching 5–10 pounds and 8–11 inches at the shoulder, with a life expectancy of 14–16 years. His puppy vaccinations began around 6–8 weeks, and his veterinary examinations, deworming, and scheduled doses are current through twelve weeks. His parents’ records should include kneecap, heart, and specialist eye examinations, with PRA1 and NAD genetic screening discussed with the breeder. Next, his vet should continue vaccinations every 2–4 weeks through at least sixteen weeks, complete his leptospirosis series, confirm his rabies schedule, and maintain appropriate parasite prevention.

Their Story

His breeder used to carry him in the crook of her arm while she opened the curtains each morning. After she died unexpectedly, relatives arrived to pack the house, and his familiar routine disappeared with her. A family member arranging the kennel’s closure has raised euthanization for puppies they cannot place. At only twelve weeks, he still trots toward her chair when the kettle clicks off. Yesterday, someone lifted her cardigan from its back, and he followed it across the room. They laid it beside his bed, where he carefully nestled into a sleeve and finally fell asleep. He is waiting for a second chance before euthanization. Your small deposit opens the path to saving him, and bringing them home.

Pup Personality

His oversized ears follow every interesting sound, and when he’s pleased with himself, he breaks into a springy little prance. At twelve weeks, he loves being included—watching you fold laundry, investigating a new room, or practicing a trick for praise. Once his busy little mind has had enough excitement, he settles into your arms with a sigh and lets you do the exploring.

PupPath Mission

I was also once looking for a dog

I wasn't just looking for an Otterhound puppy. I wanted to save one. I dreamed of giving him a warm home, a loving family, and the second chance he deserved. But I had no idea where to start. I spent countless hours searching hundreds of listings, calling shelters, and contacting breeders. Nothing. Not a single Otterhound pup.

Frustrated, I gave up searching for a while. Weeks later, I came across a post about an Otterhound puppy desperately needing a home. This was him. The puppy I'd been searching for. I rushed to the shelter, only to hear words I'll never forget. "I'm sorry. He's already been euthanized." My heart sank.

He could have had a home, a family, and a lifetime of love. If only I'd found him sooner. That's when I realized countless other dogs were facing the same heartbreaking possibility. I couldn't save him. But maybe I could help save others. That's why I created PupPath.

Papillon Puppy Stories

Male Unnamed Pup — Papillon

Once a man collapsed on a secluded trail, his Papillon pup ran toward the distant voices of other walkers. It barked, circled, and repeatedly looked back until they followed it to its owner, who was lying hidden beside the path, unable to call for help. Rescuers reached him in time, and when he finally woke up in the hospital, his first question was whether his dog was safe. At their reunion, the Papillon pup rested its head in his hands, and through tears the man whispered, “You went looking for help when I couldn’t even ask.” The Papillon pup is ready to protect you but it needs your protection first.

Male Unnamed Pup — Papillon

Within days of coming home, a Papillon puppy had become his owner’s constant companion and the children’s inseparable playmate. Whenever an argument grew loud, he would appear with his favorite toy, nudging a hand until someone paused to look at him. Those gentle interruptions became the family’s reminder to soften their voices, sit together, and listen instead of speaking over each other. One evening, watching his children cuddle beside their new Papillon friend, their father whispered, “You’ve only just arrived, and you’re already helping us take better care of each other.” The Papillon Puppy is ready to take care of you, but it needs you to take care of it first.

Male Unnamed Pup — Papillon

After an accident left his owner struggling to walk, a Papillon puppy began matching every slow step, pausing whenever the man needed to rest. Throughout the long recovery, it waited beside his owner’s chair and followed him from room to room, settling wherever they could remain close. When the children called the pup outside, it enjoyed their games, then hurried back to check on the person resting indoors. On the day they finally reached their old walking spot again, his owner sat down and held the Papillon pup, overwhelmed by the friend who had made every difficult step feel less lonely. A Papillon pup is waiting for you.
